Today is Tuesday, April 24

Contrary to what all the polls had predicted, the PC's 
(Conservatives) won a clean majority. 
The WildRose (Boobie Bus) party made a few small gains,
but did not really threaten the PCs. At this moment the
results are PC's 61, Wildrose 19, and the left wing parties
NDP 4, Liberals 3.

It would be safe to say that the left wingers got skunked.
Looks like a preview of the 2016 election in the US.

Today is Monday, April 23

It looks like France might be sliding towards the left, 
however, I would not count out Sarkozy just yet.

We got provincial elections here today. 
The race here is not between right and left, but between
incumbent right and alternative right. The Left is going
to be relegated to meekly heckling a bit from the outside,
but won't take any significant votes away from either of
the right wing parties.

The two front-running parties are headed by women: 
Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith and PC Leader Alison Redford.

Even though it is deadly serious for the politicians, most
Albertans joked a bit about the "Bust Bus" 


and then talked about hockey. Since there is going to be one
right wing party or the other, not many got really excited.
The polls say that Danielle Smith (with the Bust Bus) will
win with 45% or more seats, but we'll find out for sure today, 
and whether the losers have enough seats to form a coalition 
and can gang up on the winner.

Whoever painted that bus probably had a bigger influence on
the outcome than all the boring debates and promises, that
nobody believes anyway. It got people laughing.

An attractive woman from New York was driving
through a remote part of Texas when her car broke
down. An Indian on horseback came along and
offered her a ride to a nearby town.

She climbed up behind him on the horse and they
rode off. The ride was uneventful except that every
twenty minutes the Indian would let out a whoop so
loud that it would echo from the surrounding hills.

When they arrived in town, he let her off at the local
service station, yelled one final, "Yahoo!" and rode off.

"What did you do to get that Indian so excited?" asked
the service station attendant.

"Nothing," shrugged the woman, "I merely sat behind
him on the horse, put my arms around his waist, and
held onto his saddle horn so I wouldn't fall off."

"Lady," the attendant said, "Indians around here ride bareback."

On Wednesday Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard stood 
up for her continent again. 

"Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told 
on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government 
targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. 

Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on 
Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring 
the nation's mosques. 

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. 
Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about 
whether we are offending some individual or their culture."

It would be nice if our politicians had half as much courage
and integrity as that Lady!
